പഞ്ചഭൂതം (അൽത്താഫ് ) Elements (by Althaf)

സ്വന്തം മാതൃഭാഷയായ മലയാളത്തിൽ ആദ്യമായി എഴുതുന്ന  ഈ എളിയവന്റെ പ്രഥമശ്രമമാണ് ഈ-ചെറുകഥാശേഖരം - പഞ്ചഭൂതം (അൽത്താഫ്). എന്റെ ആദ്യ മലയാള എഴുത്തായ മൈലാഞ്ചിയുടെ കഥ പറഞ്ഞു തന്ന കണ്ണൂർക്കാരൻ ഷാനുവിനും തർജ്ജുമ്മ ചെയ്തു നശിപ്പിക്കരുത് എന്ന് ഉപദേശിച്ചു മലയാളത്തിൽ എഴുതാൻ പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ച വൃന്ദ വർമക്കും ഈ "പഞ്ചഭൂതങ്ങൾ " ഐഡിയയിലേക്കു എന്നെ ചിന്തിപ്പിച്ച മഞ്ജു മഹിപാലനും ഞാൻ പ്രത്യേക നന്ദി അറിയിക്കട്ടെ. വാട്സാപ്പ്  സ്റ്റാറ്റസ് കളിൽ കൂടി ഇത് വായിച്ചു തന്ന ഇതിലെ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളുമായവരോ അവരുടെ അടുത്തവരോ ആയ എന്റെ സർവ്വസ്വമായ കുടുംബക്കാർക്കും ബന്ധുക്കൾക്കും സുഹൃത്തുക്കൾക്കും ഹൃദയം നിറഞ്ഞ  നന്ദി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.  

സ്വന്തത്തെ കണ്ടെത്താൻ ഉലകം ചുറ്റാൻ ഇറങ്ങിയ അവനു ആ തേടലിന്റെ ഉത്തരം കിട്ടാൻ അവന്റെ വേരുകളിൽ തന്നെ തിരികെ  എത്തേണ്ടി വന്നു. ഓർമ്മകളിലൂടെ അവൻ പഞ്ചഭൂതങ്ങളെ തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നു. അവനെ 'ഭൂമിയിൽ'  ഉറപ്പിച്ചുനിർത്തിയ  വല്യ-വാപ്പയെയും, അവനെ "ആകാശങ്ങളിലേക്കു"  അടുപ്പിച്ച വല്യ-ഉമ്മയെയും  അവനിലെ അവനറിയാതെ ശ്വസിക്കുന്ന "വായു"  പോലെയുള്ള അവന്റെ തമിഴ് വേരുകളെയും അവന്റെ അമ്മോയിയെയും"(അത്തോയി)-യെയും, അണയാൻ വെമ്പുന്ന അവനെ ഉദ്ദീപിപ്പിക്കുന്ന വിഷാദനാശിനിയായ "അഗ്നിയായ"  അവന്റെ യശോദയെയും,  വരണ്ട അവന്റെ ജീവിതത്തിലെ "ജലമായ" അവന്റെ ഇളയോനെയും അവൻ അവന്റെ പഞ്ചഭൂതങ്ങളായി തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നു. .ഇതിലുമപ്പുറം അവനെ ഇന്നും അദൃശ്യമായി ബന്ധിപ്പിച്ചുവെക്കുന്ന സ്നേഹപാശങ്ങളെ പറ്റിയാണ് ആറാം ചെറുകഥ.

Panchabootham-Five Elements  (by Althaf)

Who am I? He sought himself while wandering without a destination as a 'Sayyar'. He realized that just like the Elements which constitute the world, he could find his Panchabhoothas -his elements. While he identifies his  paternal grandpa Vappa as the one who kept him grounded on "Earth", his paternal grandma Umma connects him to the "Sky". He realizes his Tamil ancestry through his mother, maternal grandma (Ammoyi) and maternal grandpa (Athoi) as 'Air' within him, forgotten and buried. He finds that his Yashodha kindles fire in him while he falls and fails in the race of life just as Yashodha in Gokul tends to his foster-son Lord Krishna.  He finds that his "Ilaiyon" comes back as  the bounty of 'Water" to the drought in him at unexpected moments just as rains. Beyond the Elements, he finds himself tied up in the "Ropes of Love "which the world does not recognize as usual.   

Thanks to  Shanu from Kannur for the story of the author's first attempt in his mother tongue-"the Henna tree", Vrinda Varma who inspired the author to write in Malayalam and told not to translate and spoil it and Manju Mahipalan who gave the author the idea of "Elements".
